Post Injection Instructions
No straining, heavy lifting or vigorous exercise for 3 to 4 hours following treatment. It takes the onabutulism toxin A, approximately 2 hours to bind itself to the nerve and begin to work. This is why we do not want you to increase your circulation with exercise and hot showers, as the toxin may leak out from where it was injected.
Avoid manipulation of the area for 3 to 4 hours following treatment. (For the same reason as listed above). This includes facials, peel and /or microdermabrasion within a two-week period as this can also affect the treatment.
Stay out of the sun/or UV light for approximately four hours after treatment and to increase the longevity of your treatment sunblock should be applied daily.
It can take 7 to 14 days to take full effect. It is recommended that the patient schedule an appointment no later than two weeks after the first appointment. Follow up appointments are necessary if the treatment has not fully taken. At this appointment further onabutulism toxin A will be retreated in the area of concern.
Frequently Asked Questions
A: Anti-wrinkle treatments are injected into muscles, however within the first 24 to 48 hours the relaxant can still be sitting superficially in the skin. If you were to exercise there is a chance that you can bleed from the sight of injection and some of the solution may be lost.
A: Yes, you can but you should take care when doing so, we recommend staying away from any skin care that has active ingredients, especially Retinol A creams as they interact with the botulism toxin and can affect the outcome of the treatment.
A: We recommend not wearing makeup for at least 24 hours after injectables as there is still a risk of infection. Applying makeup within this period of time also increases the risk of moving the product, which could lead to other complications.
